Nuevas perspectivas sobre la autoría de "La fuente": una revisión actualizada de la discusión

Abstract

Nuevas investigaciones y la aparición en los años ochenta de una carta de Marcel Duchamp a su hermana han revivido la discusión en torno a la autoría de La fuente, pieza decisiva del arte moderno y contemporáneo. En este artículo se presenta una revisión actualizada de la discusión con el propósito de ordenar los argumentos, identificar los procesos inductivos presentes y proponer posibles caminos críticos que apuntan principalmente a la construcción de la historia del arte alrededor de un hito, la invisibilización de la participación de las mujeres en ello y los cruces y contaminaciones que determinan la producción artística de una época. El objetivo no es establecer una verdad, sino exponer la documentación existente y traer uno de los hitos más importantes de la historia del arte al presente, como una manera dinámica de reconstruir los relatos que determinan sus sentidos.

New research and the appearance in the 80s of a letter from Marcel Duchamp to his sister have revived the discussion around the authorship of Fountain, which considered a decisive piece of modern and contemporary art. This article presents an updated review of the discussion with the purpose of organizing the arguments, identifying the inductive processes in it and proposing possible critical paths that mainly point to the construction of the history of art based on a milestone, the invisibility of women’s participation in it and the crossings and contaminations that determine the artistic production of an era. The objective is not to discover the truth but rather to expose the existing documentation and bring one of the most important milestones in art history to the present, as a dynamic way to reconstruct the stories that determine its senses.
