La teoría de la revolución permanente en perspectiva

Abstract

Este trabajo explora el desarrollo del concepto de “revolución permanente” en la tradición marxista. Luego de su utilización por Marx en las revoluciones de 1848-1850, fue reintroducida a comienzos del siglo XX en los debates sobre el carácter de la revolución rusa. Fue León Trotsky quien dio la fundamentación más acabada y original de esta teoría, planteada primero en 1905 para el caso ruso y luego en 1928-1919 en forma generalizada y ampliada. También recurrimos a los escritos de Trotsky para refutar las críticas a la teoría marxista de las revoluciones realizadas por Theda Skocpol. Finalmente contrastamos la teoría de la revolución permanente con la dinámica de las revoluciones de la segunda posguerra mundial y analizamos su vigencia para el siglo XXI.

This paper explores the development of the concept of "permanent revolution" in the Marxist tradition. After its use by Marx in the revolutions of 1848-1850, it was reintroduced at the beginning of the 20th century into debates about the character of the Russian revolution. It was Leon Trotsky who gave the most complete and original foundation of this theory, raised first in 1905 for the Russian case and then in 1928-1919 in a generalized and expanded form. We also turn to Trotsky's writings to refute criticisms of the Marxist theory of revolutions made by Theda Skocpol. Finally, we contrasted the theory of permanent revolution with the dynamics of the revolutions of the second postwar world and analyzed its validity for the 21st century.
