Estructura de granizos y su vinculación con las condiciones ambientales

Abstract

Se consideran resultados anteriores que permiten vincular el tamaño y la orientación de los cristales que forman una piedra de granizo con las temperaturas del aire Ta y de la superficie de la acreción Ts, existentes durante el proceso. Estos resultados se aplican al análisis de una piedra de granizo natural, formada por un centro y dos zonas I y II. Los valores obtenidos para las temperaturas en las dos zonas se utilizan para estimar la velocidad ascencional del aire en la nube U, el contenido de agua líquida en la misma w, la proyección vertical de la trayectoria del granizo ΔZ, y el tiempo de crecimiento correspondiente t. El ejemplo muestra que, el análisis de piedras de granizo recogidas en tierra, permite determinar las condiciones de crecimiento y sus relaciones con algunos parámetros de la nube.

Previous results are considered where the size and the orientation of crystals which form a hailstone are correlated with the temperature of the air Ta and of the accretion surface Ts. These results are applied to the analysis of a natural hailstone, formed by a centre and two zonas I and II. The values obtained for the temperatures prevailing in both zones are used to estimate the updraught velocity of the cloud U, the corresponding water content w, the vertical component of the hailstone trajectory AZ and the growth time t. The example shows that the analysis of the hailstones collected on the ground makes it possible to determine the prevailing growth conditions in the cloud and their relations with so me of the cloud parameters.
