La galaxia peculiar lenticular NGC 2911 y su sistema de cúmulos globulares

Abstract

Se presentan resultados preliminares del primer análisis del sistema de cúmulos globulares de la galaxia SO peculiar NGC 2911, que presenta un prominente camino de polvo y plumas en su distribución de brillo superficial. Se encontró una distribución de color de los cúmulos globulares (CG) trimodal, con los clásicos CG "pobres" y "ricos" en metales (i.e. azules y rojos, respectivamente) sumados a una población de color intermedio. Se observa en la distribución espacial que mientras que la subpoblación azul presenta una distribución extendida, las subpoblaciones intermedia y roja están más concentradas hacia el centro de la galaxia.

We present preliminary results of the first analysis of the globular cluster system of the peculiar SO galaxy NGC2911, a galaxy with a prominent dust lane and plumes in the surface brightness distribution. The color distribution of the globular clusters (GCs) show a trimodal distribution with the clasic "poor" and "rich" GCs (i.e. blue and red, respectively), plus an intermediate color subpopulation. The spatial distribution shows that while the blue subpopulation present an extended distribution, the intermediate and red subpopulations are more concentrated towards the center of the galaxy.
