La educación física argentina en los manuales y textos escolares (1880-1930)

Abstract

El trabajo tiene como objetivo central analizar los textos o manuales de educación física del nivel primario desde 1884 hasta 1930. La selección de dicho período responde a la necesidad de indagar las prácticas, los saberes y los discursos que en la época fundacional de la educación física fueron instalando y prescribiendo cierto orden corporal. La indagación se focalizará en la estructura del manual o del texto individualizando los siguientes ejes: los diferentes términos utilizados para denominar la disciplina, los contenidos a enseñar y sus justificaciones, el lugar que ocupa el docente, el lugar que ocupa el alumno, las consideraciones temporales y espaciales de las actividades a desarrollar, los materiales mencionados, la vestimenta necesaria, la distinción varón-mujer, las partes del cuerpo mencionadas en las ejercitaciones, el tipo de iconografía, entre otros. Dicho análisis nos permitirá identificar la forma en que el cuerpo - tanto masculino como femenino - es pensado y problematizado a partir de una de las asignaturas obligatorias en el nivel primario argentino. Las fuentes a utilizar serán los libros o manuales de la época dirigidos a los docentes de la disciplina en cuestión.

This article has as central objective, to analyze the texts or manuals of physical education of the primary level, from 1884 up to 1930. The selection of this period responds to the necessity of inquire about the practices, the knowledge and the discourses that were installing and prescribing certain corporal order in the fundacional time of the physical education. The investigation will center in the structure of manuals or texts, individualizing the following axes: the different terms used to denominate the discipline, the contents to teach and their justifications, the place that occupies the teacher, the place that occupies the pupil, the temporary and space considerations of the activities to develop, the mentioned materials, the necessary clothes, the distinction male-woman, the parts of the body mentioned in the exercises, the iconography type, among others. This analysis will allow us to identify the form in that the body -so much masculine as feminine- it is thought in one of the obligatory subjects of the Argentinean primary level. The sources to use will be the books or manuals of the time, directed to the teachers of the discipline in question.
