Exploración de limitantes a la adopción del cultivo de amaranto en el Cinturón Hortícola Platense

Abstract

La necesidad de un sistema agropecuario más sustentable es hoy una realidad en la región del Cinturón Hortícola Platense (CHP). La incorporación del cultivo de amaranto es una posibilidad. A pesar de sus aptitudes aún no se ha expandido y/o establecido en este territorio. Los agricultores son reflexivos y sujetos de cambio, pero situados y condicionados por la estructura, el espacio y el tiempo. Para decidir incorporar un cultivo nuevo se ponen en juego factores externos e internos que toman un papel importante habilitando o condicionando la apropiación de la tecnología. En esta investigación se identificaron preliminarmente factores internos y externos limitantes a la apropiación de este cultivo en agricultores familiares del CHP; se llevó a cabo, luego, un análisis cualitativo con la intención de comprender dichas limitaciones. Las resistencias inconscientes de los productores serían uno de los factores limitantes que interactúan con el supuesto desconocimiento del amaranto a nivel social.

The need for a more sustainable agricultural system is today a reality in the Platense Horticultural Belt (CHP) region. The incorporation of amaranth cultivation is a possibility. Despite its abilities, it has not yet expanded and/or established itself in this territory. Farmers are reflective and subjects of change, but situated and conditioned by structure, space and time. To decide to incorporate a new crop, external and internal factors come into play that play an important role in enabling or conditioning the appropriation of the technology. In this research, internal and external factors limiting the appropriation of this crop in family farmers of the CHP were preliminarily identified; Then, a qualitative analysis was carried out with the intention of understanding these limitations. The unconscious resistance of producers would be one of the limiting factors that interacts with the supposed ignorance of amaranth at a social level.
