El acercamiento entre Panamá y Sudamérica

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene objeto analizar las relaciones bilaterales entre Panamá y el MERCOSUR y la posibilidad de arribarse a un acuerdo de libre comercio entre ambas partes, al amparo del Tratado de Montevideo de 1980 que da origen a la Asociación Latinoamericana de Integración. A esos fines, se hará especial hincapié en los intereses de cada una de las partes de este nuevo binomio comercial, que abre la posibilidad a Panamá de proyectarse hacia Sudamérica en tanto que al MERCOSUR lo habilita a instalarse en América Central. Con ese objeto, se analizaran los acercamientos que vienen dándose entre ambos como también las implicancias que la creación de una Zona de Libre Comercio podría traer a la región y al reposicionamiento geoestratégico regional de ambas partes del Acuerdo.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze bilateral relations between Panama and the MERCOSUR and the possibility of reaching a free trade agreement between both parties under the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980, which gives rise to the Latin American Integration Association. To this end, emphasis will be placed on the interests of each of the parts of this new commercial binomial, which opens the possibility of projecting Panama to South America and the MERCOSUR to settle in Central America. For this purpose, we are analyzing the emerging relations as well as the implications of creating a Free Trade Area between them and the geostrategic repositioning of both parties to the future Agreement.
