Abstract

La Argentina tiene una extensa historia de racismos y discriminaciones. Durante los años noventa, cuando los índices de pobreza y desocupación comenzaron a crecer rápidamente, fueron los inmigrantes procedentes de Bolivia, Paraguay y Perú quienes comenzaron a ser el objetivo principal de estas operaciones de alterización racista. Una de las hipótesis de este artículo es que la constitución de fronteras culturales implica la configuración de jerarquías y desniveles en lo social. En el caso específico de los inmigrantes regionales, esa construcción de fronteras está íntimamente ligada a una serie de operaciones, clasificaciones, territorializaciones que les asignan determinadas posiciones en la jerarquía social. Este panorama sugiere preguntarse qué escrituras e imágenes registran esas fronteras, y qué movimientos, prácticas, cuerpos, acciones, sujetos, miradas, lenguajes aparecen, se hacen visibles en esa construcción. Precisamente, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el uso del cuerpo de los inmigrantes por parte de los medios de comunicación.

Argentina has a long history of racism and discrimination. During the nineties, when the rates of poverty and unemployment grew rapidly, immigrants from Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru who came to the country, became the main target of these operations of racist alterity. One of the hypotheses discussed in this article is that the creation of cultural borders involves setting up hierarchies and unevenness in the social sphere. In the specific case of regional immigrants, that construction of borders is closely linked to a series of operations, classifications, territorializations, assigning them certain positions in the social hierarchy. Given all this, the article analyzes what written texts and pictures register on those borders, and what movements, practices, bodies, actions, subject, looks, languages are made visible in that construction. Indeed, the aim of this paper is to analyze the use of the body of immigrants by the media.
