Análisis del soneto <i>Alles endet, was entstehet</i> del ciclo de canciones de Miguel Ángel compuesto por Hugo Wolf

Abstract

Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) compuso sus últimas canciones en marzo de 1897 y tomó como texto tres sonetos del famoso pintor, escultor y arquitecto Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564): “I’vo pensando al mio viver di prima”, “Chiunche nasce a morte arriva” y “Non so se s´è la desiata luce”. Estos sonetos fueron traducidos al alemán por Walter Robert-Tornow y conformaron un ciclo de tres canciones que Wolf llamó “Michelangelo Lieder” (“Canciones de Miguel Ángel): No. 1) Wohl denk ich oft an mein vergangnes Leben (A menudo pienso en mi vida pasada), Nº 2) Alles endet, was entstehet (Todo lo que nace ha de morir) y Nº 3) Fühlt meine Seele das ersehnte Licht (¿Siente mi alma la luz anhelada?). Miguel Ángel escribió estos sonetos cuando ya era anciano y reflejan su pesimismo hacia la vida. En el primero de ellos, el poeta rememora los días de su juventud, el segundo es una observación de la naturaleza efímera de todo lo terrenal y el tercero es un recuerdo del amor perdido. El propósito de este artículo es analizar el texto del segundo soneto, “Alles endet, was entstehet”, desde el punto de vista de la pronunciación, brindar elementos a los cantantes y directores para producir un texto con una dicción clara y expresiva y presentar una reseña sobre Wolf y su relación con el texto literario.

Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) composed his last songs in March 1987, and took as text three sonnets of the famous painter, sculptor, and architect, Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564): ): “I’vo pensando al mio viver di prima”, “Chiunche nasce a morte arriva” y “Non so se s´è la desiata luce”. This sonnets were translated to German by Walter Robert-Tornow, and became part of a three song cycle, called by Wolf “Michelangelo Lieder” (“Songs of Michelangelo”: No. 1) Wohl denk ich oft an mein vergangnes Leben (I often think about my past life), Nº 2) Alles endet, was entstehet (All that is born must die), and Nº 3) Fühlt meine Seele das ersehnte Licht (Does my soul feel the desired light?). Michelangelo wrote this sonnets when he was old, and they reflect his pessimism upon life. On the first of them, the poet remembers his youth’s days, the second is an observation about the mayfly nature of terrenal things, and the third is a lost love memory. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the text of the second sonnet “Alles endet, was entstehet” from the point of view of pronunciation, to offer resources to singers and conductors in order to produce a text with a clear and expressive diction, and to present a review about Wolf and his relation to the literary text.
