Lenguaje, representaciones e ideología en Durkheim y Volóshinov

Abstract

La presente investigación se propone reconstruir y comparar el concepto durkheimniano de “representaciones colectivas” y el de ideología de Valentín Nikoláievich Volóshinov, ambos vinculados con el problema del lenguaje. Aun cuando los puntos de partida difieren sustancialmente, sus planteos coinciden en varios aspectos. En sus escritos tardíos, Émile Durkheim enfatiza las representaciones colectivas –llegando a otorgarles una fuerza equivalente a los hechos materiales–, especialmente en cuanto a su nexo con la integración social, mientras que para Volóshinov los fenómenos ideológicos resultan de la estrecha relación entre las actividades colectivas y el psiquismo individual. El análisis de estas y otras cuestiones se realizará en respuesta a los siguientes interrogantes comparativos: 1. ¿cómo interviene el lenguaje en la producción de las “representaciones colectivas” y en la configuración de “ideologías”?; 2. ¿cuál es el valor que Durkheim y Volóshinov confieren a dichas nociones en el proceso de articulación entre individuo y sociedad? Se parte del supuesto de que entre ambos conceptos se verifican similitudes, sobre todo en lo concerniente a la importancia del mundo instituido de significados socialmente condicionados (Durkheim) y a la ideología, un proceso cuya peculiaridad excede el concepto de conciencia de clase y de falsa conciencia (Volóshinov).

The current research intends to restore and compare the Durkheimian concept of "collective representations" and Volishinov´s ideology, both related to the linguistic issue. Even when the starting points differ substantially, they both agree in several aspects. In his late writings Émile Durkheim emphasizes collective representations, granting them a strength equivalent to material facts, especially regarding their link with social integration, while for Volóshinov the ideological phenomena result from a close relation between collective activities and individual psyquism. The analysis of these and other issues will be developed in reply to the following comparative questions: 1. How does language intervene in the production of "collective representations" and the configuration of “ideologies”?; 2. What value do both Durkheim and Volóshinov give to such notions in the process of articulation between the individual and society? We stem from the assumption that similarities are verified between both concepts, regarding the importance of the world make of meanings which are socially conditioned (Durkheim) and to ideology, a process whose peculiarity exceeds the notion of coincidence of class and false conscience (Volóshinov).
