Ley de interrupción voluntaria del embarazo en Uruguay: breve reseña sobre un estudio del proceso de reforma legal

Abstract

Esta reseña se realiza a partir de la lectura y el análisis del libro Abortus Interruptus. Política y reforma legal del aborto en Uruguay. Publicado en 2016, ofrece un análisis político del proceso de reforma legal del aborto en el país vecino. El y la responsable del mismo son investigadores de trayectoria en el tema, que no residen en el país donde se realiza el trabajo. Esto le otorga al trabajo un plus, y es la mirada externa/extraña de un otro/a que encuentran peculiaridades en el campo que quienes están inmersos en el contexto próximo (legal, político, social, cultural) tal vez obviarían o desestimarían. Abortus Interruptus es un libro que devuelve una síntesis de la propia historia a quienes lucharon para la legalización del aborto en Uruguay, a la vez que contribuye a quienes tienen la misma lucha en países de la región. Dirigido a un público amplio de lectores/as, hecha luz a la discusión del aborto en una trama más compleja donde se ponen a jugar nociones de Estado, perspectivas de derechos, perspectivas tutelares y médicas, discursos provenientes de la salud pública y aquellos que bregan por la total autonomía de las mujeres por sus cuerpos y planes de vida.

This review is made from the reading and analysis of the book Abortus Interruptus. Politics and Legal Reform of Abortion in Uruguay. Published in 2016, provides a political analysis of the process of legal abortion reform in the neighboring country. The people responsible for it are researchers with trajectory in the subject that do not reside in the country where the work is done. This gives the study a plus, and it is the external/strange look of other that find speculiarities in the field that those who are immersed in the near (legal, political, social, cultural) context could perhaps ignore or dismiss. Abortus Interruptus is a bookthat returns a synthesis of history itself to those who fought for the legalization of abortion in Uruguay, while contributing to those who have the same struggle in countries of the region. Aimed at a wide readership, the discussion of abortion is made clear in a more complex plot where State notions, rights perspectives, guardianship and medical perspectives, public health discourses and those who fight for the total autonomy of women for their bodies and life plans.
