Cruces en la idea de la representación

Abstract

El texto plantea la pregunta por el modo en que se construye la idea de la representación política moderna, partiendo del análisis del proceso histórico por el cual la misma va tomando forma en los inicios del período independentista en el Río de la Plata. De ese modo, se señalan las formas en que la figura del representante se autonomiza de la fuente original de la soberanía, identificada con el pueblo. En esa mutación, los sectores populares quedarán reducidos a un nuevo rol de menor trascendencia: como el de peticionantes.

The paper raises the question about the way in which the idea of modern political representation is constructed, starting from the analysis of the historical process by which it takes shape at the beginning of the independence period in the Río de la Plata. We analyses the ways in which the figure of the representative acquires autonomy from the original source of sovereignty, identified with the people. In this mutation, those popular sectors will be reduced to a new role of less importance as that of petitioners.
