El cine de Robert Kramer: un ensayo sobre el amor

Abstract

A partir de una cartografía cinematográfica que tiene cuatro objetos como territorios centrales —Ice (1969), Scenes from the Class Struggle in Portugal (1977/79), Berlin 10/90 (1990) y Ghosts of Electricty (1997)—, el artículo examina las articulaciones entre política y subjetividad en la obra de Robert Kramer. Entrelazando arte y vida, la filmografía ensayística de Kramer constituye un terreno fecundo para analizar la desestructuración de las formas cinematográficas y el giro autorreferencial del cine político. El texto estudia de qué manera la emergencia de formas autorreferenciales en la obra del director trastocó las categorías tradicionalmente asociadas a los sistemas de representación del cine documental y del cine militante.

Mapping Robert Kramer’s filmography and four of its titles —Ice (1969), Scenes from the Class Struggle in Portugal (1977/79), Berlin 10/90 (1990) and Ghosts of Electricity (1997)—, the paper focuses on the articulations between politics and subjectivity. As it interweaves art and life, Kramer’s essayistic oeuvre constitutes a fertile ground to analyze the destructuration of the film forms and the self-referential turn of political film. The article examines how the emergence of self-referential forms in Kramer’s cinema overturned the categories traditionally associated with the systems of representation of documentary and militant film.
