Seguimiento de pacientes sometidos a Terapia I. V. de Teofilina

Abstract

Durante 4 meses del primer semestre de 1985, 33 pacientes del Hospital St. Clare's (Nueva York, EE.UU.) fueron tratados con teofilina I.V. Se recolectaron datos de los pacientes en lo referente a edad, peso, función renal y hepática, estado de enfermedad cardíaca y/o pulmonar, otras drogas administradas concomitantemente, respuesta al tratamiento, dosis de mantenimiento y nivel en sangre. 72.7% de los casos mostraron dosis ajustada de acuerdo a las condiciones del paciente. Sólo 42,4% cumplieron con la determinación de niveles en sangre y de los cuales, en el 42,9% de los pacientes, la concentración en sangre estaba por debajo o por encima de los límites recomendados

In the first semester of 1985, during 4 months, 33 patients at St. Clare's Hospital (New York, U.S) underwent an I.V. therapy with theophylline. Some information has been collected from the patient's chart, by the pharmacy staff, like: patient's weight, age, hepatic and renal function, the status of heart and lung diseases, other drugs included in the therapy, patient's response to the treatment, and drug's blood level test. 72.7% of the patients showed a dosage with in therapeutic guidelines. 42.4% followed the guideline for blood level of theophylline and out of that 42.4%, just 42.9% had blodd levels out of the therapeutic range
