Una mirada tríptica sobre el tango en la Argentina

Abstract

Gustavo Varela analiza la historia del tango en estrecha relación con la historia de nuestro país. Tres tangos sumamente distintos se suceden desde finales del siglo XIX y durante casi todo el XX. Tres Argentinas igualmente diferentes dan marco a las distintas expresiones de una música que ha terminado convirtiéndose en una de las producciones culturales más indentitarias de la Argentina. Ese proceso de identificación no ha sido espontáneo, sino todo lo contrario. Cada uno de los tres tangos que Varela nos muestra ha identificado a sujetos sociales con intereses que, en algunos casos, pueden considerarse opuestos. Dime cómo es tu tango y te diré quién eres.

Gustavo Varela analyzes the history of tango in close relation with the history of our country. Three extremely different tangos have followed each other since the end of the 19th century and during most of the 20th century. Three Argentinas, equally different, give context to the different expressions of a music that has become one of cultural productions with more identity elements in Argentina. This process of identification has not been spontaneous, but quite the opposite. Each of the three tangos that Varela shows us has identified social subjects with interests that, in some cases, can be considered opposite.
