Poner el cuerpo

Abstract

Este texto es una reseña del último libro de Andrea Giunta "Feminismo y arte latinoamericano. Historia de artistas que emanciparon el cuerpo". Su segunda edición salió en 2018 a cargo de Siglo Veintiuno. A través de un comentario de cada uno de los capítulos, mostramos la actualidad de este libro y su importante contribución a la historiografía del arte latinoamericano. Lo hace deteniéndose en las obras de arte que entre los años sesenta y ochenta presentaron una comprensión distinta del cuerpo femenino, como espacio de expresión de una disidencia respecto de lo establecido socialmente.

This text is a review of Andrea Giunta’s last book "Feminismo y arte latinoamericano. Historia de artistas que emanciparon el cuerpo" ["Feminism and Latin American Art. History of Artists Who Emancipated the Body"]. Its second edition was released in 2018 by Siglo Veintiuno. With a comment on each chapter, we want to show the currentness of this book and how important its contribution to the historiography of Latin American art is. It focuses on the artworks that between the 60s and 80s showed a different understanding of the woman’s body and presented it as an area to express disagreement with what has been socially established.
