El Sistema Argentino de Educación Física: entre el cientificismo, la higienización, el eclecticismo y la argentinidad

Abstract

El Sistema Argentino de Educación Física fue la propuesta corporal dominante en las escuelas y colegios argentinos en las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Este sistema fue elaborado por el Dr. Enrique Romero Brest. El presente artículo, retomando conceptos de la historia social y cultural, indaga al Sistema Argentino de Educación Física durante las primeras dos décadas del siglo XX intentando caracterizarlo y, al mismo tiempo, identificando las ficciones corporales ‘‘argentinas’’ construidas para legitimar su existencia. Algunos de los interrogantes analizados son: ‘‘En qué consistió el Sistema Argentino de Educación Física?’’, ‘‘Cuáles fueron sus características centrales?’’, ‘‘Qué objetivos e ideales persiguió?’’ y ‘‘Qué tipo de destinatario fabricó?’’.

The Argentine system of physical education was the dominant body proposal at argentine schools and colleges in the first decades of the 20th century. This system was developed by Dr. Enrique Romero Brest. Taking up concepts of social and cultural history, this article explores the Argentine system of physical education during the first two decades of the 20th century trying to characterize it and also trying to identify "Argentine" bodily fictions built to legitimize its existence. Some of the analyzed questions are: "What was the Argentine system of physical education?", "What were the main features?", "What goals and ideals pursued?" and "What kind of recipient did the system make?".
