Ansiedad en los estudiantes de Cirugía A de la Facultad de Odontología de La Plata

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación consistió en estudiar el estrés que padecen los alumnos cursantes de cuarto y quinto año de la Asignatura Cirugía "A" de la Facultad de Odontología de La Plata, UNLP. Los alumnos - 186 en total- comenzaron a ser encuestados en su 4to año de carrera y los resultados obtenidos, han sido los siguientes: Aproximadamente el 70% de los alumnos encuestados han manifestado, algún grado de estrés al comienzo del ciclo lectivo, teniendo como principal causa, el temor a lo desconocido o a provocarle algún daño al paciente. El 54,8% de la muestra está constituida por mujeres y el 45,2% por varones. También quedo evidenciado que las mujeres sufrieron mas causas de estrés que los varones. Al inicio del 4to año de estudios, sólo el 17,74% de los alumnos evidenció estrés. Promediando la cursada, el incremento fue considerable, llegando a 56,98%. Hacia el final, el crecimiento fue aún mayor, llegando a su punto máximo (72,04%). Los resultados que se han obtenido del cuestionario, ponen de manifiesto que los estudiantes del último año de la carrera de odontología, presentan valores más elevados en los siguientes factores: cansancio emocional y despersonalización.

The purpose of this paper has been to study the stress suffered by 4 th and 5 th year-student sattending the course Surgery "A" at the Facultad de Odontologia of La Plata, UNLP. Such students, 186 in all, were interviewed at the beginning of the fourth year of their course of studies, and the results obtained are the following: about 70 % of the students have shown certain degree of stress at the beginning of the course. The fear to cause any damage to the patient has proved to be the main cause. The 54.8% of the interviewed were women while the 45.2% were men. The research has also shown that women suffered more stressing situations than men. At the beginning of the fourth year of the course of studies, only 17.74% of the students showed stress. There was an important increase reaching up to 56.98 % half way through the course. By the end of the fourth year, the increment was even greater 72.04 %. The results obtained through the questionnaire revealed that Odontology students in their last year of studies, showed higher values in: emotional weariness and depersonalization.
