dc.description.abstract | A second species of the endemic Chilean genus Telmatobufo (T. australis) was collected in the humid and cold Valdivian forest of the Pelada mountains (Formas, 1972). The acquisition of tadpoles of this leptodactylid frog provides further evidence of the probable ancient relationships of the genus, having in mind its similarity with genus Heleophryne from the South-African coast range. / Reminiscent Gondwanian features of both genera such as relictic leptodactylid stocks were pointed out. Comparative remarks on the mountain-stream adapted tadpoles of Heleophryne, Telmatobufo and Thoropa were carried out and discussed. | en |
