dc.description.abstract The study of the spectrum of Lyrae in the red does not give any evidence in favor of Huang's Interpretation that gaseous material falls upon the secondary component and of his theory that β Lyrae is a transition object towards the Algol-type systems. The so-called "emission peak" that one of us (J.S.) described a spectral feature present in the photographic region is the result of the presence of absorption superimposed upon the original emission.
