La construcción de una poética: el modo de obrar de Rafael Iglesia en Rosario, Argentina

Abstract

Con una singular manera de hacer arquitectura, Rafael Iglesia (1952-2015) propone “transformar al objeto en el proceso de su construcción”, expone su inquietud acerca del rol que la estructura tiene en la creación arquitectónica y decide apostar por la experimentación con máquinas simples, a base de palancas, fricciones y contrapesos. De esta forma, construye una poética que es detonada por sus lecturas de literatura y filosofía contemporáneas, sostenida por sus exploraciones estructurales y reafirmada en la reflexión sobre su hacer, que aparece en la escritura de las memorias de sus obras. El propósito del presente trabajo es indagar el programa creativo del arquitecto y develar el rol que la representatividad arquitectónica tiene en su obra. Las fuentes de nuestra investigación son sus obras construidas, sus escritos publicados, una serie de entrevistas que realizamos a sus colaboradores y colegas, y parte de su biblioteca.

With a unique way of doing architecture, Rafael Iglesia (1952-2015) proposes „to transform the object into the process of its construction“, exposes its concern about the role that the structure plays in the architectural creation and decides to bet on the experimentation with simple machines, based on levers, frictions and counterweights. In this way, he constructs a poetics that is detonated by his readings on contemporary literature and philosophy, supported by his structural explorations and reaffirmed in the reflection on his doing, which appears in his work memoires. The purpose of this work is to inquiry the creative program of the architect and to reveal the role that architectural representation plays in his work. The sources of our research are his constructed works, his published writings, a series of interviews we conducted with his collaborators and colleagues, and part of his library.
