Aproximaciones a las prácticas funerarias tardías del Valle Calchaquí, Salta

Abstract

Para el valle Calchaquí, Provincia de Salta, desde principios del siglo XX hay importante información sobre los enterratorios y cementerios de los últimos siglos prehispánicos. Abordar los antecedentes acumulados nos ha permitido avanzar en diversos aspectos. La revisión de concepciones puestas en juego a principios de siglo XX permitió despejar preconceptos, detectar indicios de prácticas rituales, profundizar en la variabilidad de los modos de entierra y los espacios donde se disponen, y comenzar a evaluar del costo social invertido en ellos. Se presenta una síntesis de esas aproximaciones y avances sobre los tipos de entierros, su disposición espacial, así como el costo y el valor social que manifiestan las cualidades de las tumbas y sus contenidos en El Churcal, uno de los sitios tardíos de mayor relevancia del sector del valle Calchaquí.

There is important information about the burials and cemeteries of the pre-Hispanic past centuries since the beginning of the 20th century in the Calchaquí valley, Salta province. The study of the accumulated background has enabled us to make progress in various areas. The revisión of concepts brought into play in the early 20th century allowed to clear preconceptions, to detect signs of ritual practices, to better understand the variability of burials modes, and the spaces they occupied, and also begin to evaluate the social cost invested m them. We present a synthesis of these approaches and advances on the types of burials, occupied spaces and the cost and the social valué that manifest the qualities of the tomb md its contents in El Churcal, one of the late period 's sites of major significance in central Calchaquí Valley.
