La verdad de la ficción y la verdad del discurso historiográfico

Abstract

La comparación por contraste entre el discurso literario y el histórico permite analizar metodológicamente tanto los préstamos entre ambos discursos como la verificación de una posible especificidad inherente a cada uno de ellos. Ambos ofrecen una representación lingüística de la realidad; la historiografía, por su parte, y para algunos pensadores, no se pronuncia sobre los acontecimientos del pasado o del presente sino sobre su sustituto figurado; y la literatura, con el “pacto de ficción”, pone de relieve el artificio. Sin embargo, no por esto la última renuncia a la verdad o a la referencialidad, así como el discurso histórico no desarticula por completo su fundamento cognoscitivo sobre la verdad histórica, aunque sea, en ocasiones, sesgada.

Contrasting literary and historical discourse enables a methodological analysis both of the interchanges between the two discourses and the verification of each one’s possible inherent specificity. Both offer a linguistic representation of reality; historiography, on the one hand, and according to some thinkers, does not address past or present events, but their figured substitutes; on the other hand, literature, with its “fictional pact”, brings out its own artifice. And yet, this does not mean that it renounces truth or referentiality, just as historical discourse does not completely disarticulate its own cognitive grounds in relation to historical truth, even though at times this truth is subjective.
