Ángulo facial inferior

Abstract

El registro de la dimensión vertical en el paciente totalmente desdentado ha sido por años un tema controvertido, y es uno de los puntos más difíciles de la prostodoncia. En trabajos previos, observamos medidas promedias del ángulo, en torno a 49 grados. Otros estudios coinciden. Sin embargo, dicho ángulo no es una medida absoluta, sino que puede estar condicionada por la altura y la profundidad. Objetivos: Evaluar el ángulo facial inferior y la profundidad y la altura de la cara, con el fin de aportar elementos a la determinación de la dimensión vertical.

Recording vertical dimension in the edentulous patient has been for years a controversial issue and is one the most challenged points in prosthodontics. Aim: To evaluate the lower facial angle and the height and depth of the face, with the objective to contribute with more elements to the vertical dimension record. Material and methods: 45 edentulous patients were randomly selected from the Total Prosthesis Clinic of the Prosthodontics Department. The following measures were recorded: Extra-orally: External eye angle – Lips angle #M1 and Nose base – Chin #M2. Cephalometric measurements: Inferior facial angle, Depth of the face and Height of the face. Correlation of the inferior facial angle with the other variables was searched.
