Tibulo I, 2: la retórica del amor

Abstract

Tibulo, en la elegía I, 2, retoma el tema de la magia, tópico recurrente en la elegía, autorizado por el género literario, con las características y matices con que es representado también en los autores con los que comparte la temática (Propercio, Ovidio y Horacio). En esta elegía en particular, observamos que el tema se articula como una excusa del discurso persuasivo, una herramienta de autoridad a la que apela el amante para lograr su objetivo de conquista. En el presente trabajo analizando discursivamente el texto, observaremos que la magia resulta un recurso apto y apropiado para persuadir y convencer al interlocutor. Estudiaremos de qué modo el autor retoma las técnicas retóricas propias del discurso persuasivo con fines amorosos.

Tibullus, in the elegy I, 2, takes up the theme of magic -which is a recurrent topic in the elegy and has been approved by the literary genre- giving the theme the characteristics and nuances which are also represented by the authors who share the theme (Propertius, Ovid, Horace). In this elegy in particular, we note that the issue is structured as an excuse of persuasive speech, a tool of authority to which the lover appeals to achieve their goal of conquest. In this paper, discursively analyzing the text, we note that magic is a proper recourse to persuade and convince the listener. We will study how the author takes the very rhetorical techniques of persuasive speech for love purposes.
