<i>Ónoma, érgon</i> y <i>lógos</i> en <i>Helena</i> de Eurípides

Abstract

En Helena de Eurípides se verifica una antítesis entre el mundo real (el mundo de la realidad ordinaria y cotidiana) y el mundo de lo maravilloso, de la magia, en el que todo es posible. La acción de la tragedia está constituida por el pasaje de los héroes desde un mundo al otro y, en particular, por el retorno del héroe desde el mundo ideal al mundo real. Sin embargo, el problema se complica: el planteo euripideo entrelaza estos elementos claramente novelescos con otros temas más serios, propios de la atmósfera intelectual de su tiempo. Así, por ejemplo, el problema planteado por Protágoras acerca de que la realidad es subjetiva y de que solamente la percepción sensorial es garantía de conocimiento de la realidad constituye otra perspectiva de análisis. En este sentido, aparece, vinculado con la cuestión de los dos mundos, el planteo acerca del lenguaje y de su capacidad para dar cuenta de esta realidad tan compleja. Intentaremos analizar la historia y la posible solución de este problema.

In Euripide’s Helen is verified an antithesis between the real world (the world of the ordinary and daily reality) and the world where everything is possible, which is full of magic and fantasy. The tragedy’s action is constitued by the passage of the heroes from one world to the other and, specifically, by the return of the hero from the ideal world to the real world. Nevertheless, the problem gets more complicated: Euripide’s point of view interlaces these clearly novelistic elements with other more serious, characteristic subjects of the intellectual atmosphere of his time. Thus, for example, the problem created by Protágoras about reality being subjective and that only the sensorial perception is guarantee of knowledge about reality constitues another perspective of analysis. In this case, related to both world subjects, appears the position about the language and its capacity to give notice about this complex reality. We will try to analyze history and the possible solution to this problem.
