Cómo armar las distintas piezas del trono: repaso y perspectivas sobre el trabajo integrador “Estrategias hegemónicas en la lucha por el Trono del Hierro. Análisis de las narrativas en Game of Thrones”

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo sistematizar el proceso mediante el cual aplicamos conocimientos adquiridos durante la carrera para analizar, desde las lógicas de producción, el material audiovisual “Game of Thrones” en un recorte de sus tres primeras temporadas. Para ello, indagamos en los modos narrativos en torno al poder presentes en la serie (administración político-económica del espacio, relaciones de género y linaje) desde el enfoque de los Estudios Culturales Latinoamericanos. Entendemos que en los tiempos actuales es necesario preguntarse por las implicancias de ver y vincularse con los diversos sentidos desde distintos formatos, tiempos y plataformas, que en conjunto conforman nuevas prácticas sociales. Es decir, no son sino otras formas de hacer catarsis para sobrellevar nuestra cotidianeidad. En concreto, la presentación consiste en proponer un acercamiento a las herramientas desarrolladas -elaboración de grillas, descripción de escenas, etc.- y su articulación con lo teórico, para arribar a distintas conclusiones y nuevos interrogantes emanados del Trabajo Integrador Final “Estrategias hegemónicas en la lucha por el Trono del Hierro: análisis de las narrativas en Game of Thrones”.

The aim of this paper is to systematize the process through which we applied the knowledge acquired during our undergraduate studies in order to analyze, from a standpoint of its production logics, the audiovisual material ‘Game of Thrones’ in a selection of its first three seasons. To do so, we inquired into the narratives regarding the notion of power present in the series (political-economic administration of space, gender relations and lineage) from the approach of Latin American Cultural Studies. We understand that in current times it is necessary to ask ourselves about the implications of seeing and linking with the different meanings from different formats, times and platforms, which together make up new social practices. That is to say, they are nothing but other ways of catharsis to cope with our everyday life. Specifically, this presentation consists of proposing an approximation to the tools developed (grids elaboration, scenes description, etc.) and their articulation with the theoretical, to arrive at different conclusions and new questions arising from our Undergraduate Thesis 'Hegemonic Strategies in the Struggle for the Iron Throne: an Analysis on Narratives in Game of Thrones'.
