This article analyses the reformist agenda regarding public education and its relation with the definition of citizenship in the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos between 1821 and 1826. We examined the different methods of financing the new elementary education and latinidad institutions, with which the provincial authorities aspired to transform the social and political practices of the “old union” into those of a new citizenship. Furthermore, it is shown how the modification of the public education compromises the relationships of the authorities of Corrientes and Entre Ríos with the corporate world in cities, towns and villages.
