Afforestation play a determining role in the productive scenario of Misiones and the hybrid pine grown in importance in the province. The present study aims to assess the effect of different thinning patterns on the canopy characteristics of these forests. We estimate, total radiation (PAR), Leaf Area Index (LAI) and canopy cover. The values of the studied variables reflect the effect of thinning respect the control treatment. Radiation (PAR) and canopy cover showed significant changes in the thinning of 50% of basal area. The differences in LAI between the different groups was not significant, but the trend showed that the frequency would have a greater effect respect the intensity. The clustering coefficient of needles was significantly different between groups, intensity of thinning. The combinations of thinning intensity and frequency driving changes in the canopy of the afforestation of the hybrid pine.
However, studies that involve a number of years can yield more accurate results regarding the variables studied.
