Este artículo aborda el tatuaje en estudiantes universitarios. Los humanos se tatúan desde el neolítico; en el siglo XXI se volvió una actividad común y comercial, con clientes por todo el mundo especialmente jóvenes. El texto se deriva de una investigación realizada a 64 estudiantes de psicología de Colombia de 18 a 25 años; se les entrevistó para conocer sus motivaciones para tatuarse, los contenidos simbolizados, las experiencias y los eventos con los cuales se relacionan sus tatuajes. Se encontró que el 73% de la muestra se realizó el primer tatuaje entre los 17 y 20 años; los primeros en efectuarlo fueron los varones. Entre los motivos para tatuarse, la rebeldía aparece en el último lugar. Todos los catalogan como un elemento artístico para decorar el cuerpo y simbolizar elementos relacionados con la subjetividad.

This article analyzes tattoos in university students. Humans have been tattooing since the Neolithic; in the 21st century it became a common and commercial activity, with especially young customers all over the world. The text is derived from an investigation carried out on 64 psychology students from Colombia between the ages of 18 and 25; They were interviewed to find out their motivations for tattooing, the symbolized content, the experiences and events with which their tattoos are related. It was found that 73% of the sample had the first tattoo between the ages of 17 and 20; the first to do so were the men. Among the reasons for tattooing, rebellion appears in the last place. They are all cataloged as an artistic element to decorate the body and symbolize elements related to subjectivity.
