El positivismo, ¿ha muerto?

Abstract

La finalidad de la presente investigación fue rastrear e identificar qué actualizaciones positivistas y emergencias “neopositivistas” atraviesan el contexto local e impactan directamente al campo de la salud mental, atendiendo a los despliegues disciplinares en pugna y las decisiones políticas que favorecen apuestas hegemónicas sectarias desde las medidas y concepciones del gobierno actual. Para tal análisis, se partió de la revisión bibliográfica de exponentes centrales de las corrientes actuales en su explicación de problemática sociales y en salud mental, así como de la revisión discursiva de dirigentes políticos a cargo de las áreas trasversales. De este modo, el auge de las disciplinas neurocientíficas y conductistas (figuradas en Facundo Manes), así como las indiscretas prácticas de medicalización psiquiátrica, son leídas a través de la hipótesis de un emergente positivismo biologicista encriptado que permite vehiculizar, mediante discursos pretendidamente científicos, intereses políticos oligopólicos que contrarrestan directamente los nuevos contratos sociales basados en el reconocimiento y la garantía de los derechos humanos. Esto se produciría mediante un desplazamiento del factor sociocultural, dado que, desde un posicionamiento positivista, el valor de las explicaciones científicas quedaría acotado a la “naturaleza objetiva”, reduciéndose lo político-social a una variable condicionante y contingente, no constituyente. Desde el marco neoliberal, las disciplinas atinentes al campo de la salud mental quedan enlazadas en los rasgos de una cultura comandada por el mercado, no solo a través de los “productos” –la industria farmacológica, terapias sin ética, etc.– sino también mediante la generación de “valores subjetivos” para ordenar el comportamiento de los sujetos-consumidores (Galende, 2008). De este modo, se buscó esclarecer los alcances que el discurso y la práctica positivistas actuales tienen en la concepción del padecimiento mental y del sujeto, desde una dirigencia política tendiente a pensar los derechos sociales como “costos”. La cosmovisión positivista es peligrosa políticamente por su carácter segregativo y habilitante de desresponsabilización estatal, y disciplinarmente por la desubjetivación que opera sobre el conflicto psíquico, entendido siempre en términos patológicos y asentados biológicamente. Los resultados tienden a señalar el modo en que el imperativo ético hacia la singularidad en salud mental se ve erosionado por la hegemonía de prácticas y discursos neopositivistas dentro del macrocontexto neoliberal que facilita su despliegue insidioso.

The purpose of this investigation was to track and identify which positivist updates and “neo-positivist” emergencies cross the local context and directly impact the mental health field, attending to the disciplinary deployments in conflict and the political measures that favor sectarian hegemonic bets from the measures and conceptions of the current government. For such an analysis, we based on the bibliographic review of central exponents of the current streams for their explanation of social problems and problems in mental health, as well as the discursive review of current political leaders in charge of transversal areas. This way, the rise of the neuro-scientific and behavioral disciplines (represented by Facundo Manes) as well as the indiscreet practices of psychiatric medication, are read through the hypothesis of an emerging encrypted biologic positivism that allows carrying, through allegedly scientific discourses, oligopolistic political interests in straightforward compensation for new social contracts based on the recognition and guarantee of the human rights exercise. This would occur through a shift in the socio-cultural factor, given that, from a positivist position, the value of scientific explanations would be limited to the "objective nature", reducing the political-social to a conditioning and contingent variable, not a constituent one. From the neoliberal framework, the disciplines related to the field of mental health are trapped in the traits of a culture commanded by the market, not only through products - the pharmacological industry, unethical therapies, etc. - but also through the generation of subjective values ​​to manage the consumer-subjects’ behavior (Galende, 2008). In this way, we sought to clarify the scope that current positivist discourse and practice have in the conception of mental and subject suffering, from a political direction that tends to consider rights as “costs”. The positivist worldview is dangerous in a political sense because of its segregating and state’s un-responsibility enabling character, and in a disciplinary sense because of the desubjectivation that operates on the psychic conflict, always understood in pathological terms and as biologically settled. The results tend to indicate the way in which the ethical imperative towards singularity in mental health is eroded by the hegemony of neo-positivist practices and discourses within the neoliberal macro-context that facilitates its insidious deployment.
