La expansión internacional de las empresas automotrices de China a través de la inversión extranjera directa (2001-2020)

Abstract

En este trabajo pretendemos explicar la expansión internacional de las compañías automotrices chinas a través de la IED, entre 2001 y 2020. A tal fin, revisaremos la evolución cuantitativa de las inversiones, los motivos que impulsaron el "go global" de las automotrices chinas, el método de ingreso de las inversiones y el destino geográfico de los capitales invertidos. Para cumplimentar nuestro objetivo, hemos realizado un exhaustivo trabajo de rastreo, registro y sistematización de las inversiones concretadas por las automotrices chinas en el exterior. Además de ello, también trabajamos con artículos de prensa, información proporcionada por las compañías y bibliografía secundaria.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the Chinese automotive companies’ "going global" between 2001 and 2020 through direct foreign investment. To this end, we analyze the quantitative evolution of the investments, the reasons that boosted the companies’ going global, the entry forms of those investments in different countries, and the geographical distribution of the capital invested. We have tracked, recorded and systematized the foreign investment made by Chinese automakers, for which we have used press articles, the information published by automotive companies themselves, and specialized literature.
