Transfer of matter and loss of angular momentum in close binary systems

Abstract

Explicit formulae for the relative variation of the period for binaries systems are given for isotropic loss of matter form the components, as well as for mass transference between the components (gravitational radiation is also considered). The photometric effects due to transfer-of-matter in near contact systems are studied.
