The new version of the Wilson and Devinney synthetic method is employed to study the BV photometry and the radial velocity curves for both components of V508 Ophiuchi. The results show that this binary is a normal A-type W UMa star with a mass ratio of 0.53 and with a relatively low degree of over–contact (about 10%). The study is completed with the determination of absolute values for the dimensions, masses, and luminosities of the system. The unusual behaviour of previous light curves obtained by other authors might roughly be explained by means of selective emission located in the contact zone.
