The Gum Nebula, with a diameter of 36" and surrounded by Hα filaments, is one of the more extended features on the sky. Within that region several interesting objects as Vela, Puppis and RCW 38, are found. For this reason we decided to map this extended region with high sensitivity at the frequency of 1435 MHz. A reduction method was developed that allowed to calibrate absolutely the observations and to obtain the Spectral Index (Tb=f⁻ᵇ), comparing our observations with those obtained by Haslam et al. (1982).
