Following Adem (1970) a climatic model nbalance of energy type is developed. The thermodynamic energy equation averaged over the time and space is used. It is written and solved for the mean zonal surface temperature for oceans. The equation is Specified for each 5° latitude belt and the time step of one month is used.
Two experiments were performed. In one, the temperature is obtained from energy conditions and the temperature of the previous month. The second experiment made use of only temperature data of the first month (and energy data) as initial conditions. Monthly climatic temperatures for the whole year were obtained, using this initial conditions for January. Using present values for imput parameters, the model reproduces quite well several of the major thermal caracteristics of the oceans.
Also a series of experiment were performed to study modelxs sensitivity. It is sensitive to variations of the albedo, cloud cover and sensible and Iatent heat. Changes in these variables modify the surface temperature field.
