The genus Empoasca is worldwide distributed and has 600 species. Numerous species transmit viruses to different cultures, specially potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.). A key for identification of 25 species of Empoasca found in Argentina is given. Redescriptions and some original remarks on certain anatomical features, as well as their geographical distribution and host plants, are provided. Females are described for the first time for E. punena Torres, E. kraemeri Ross & Moore, E. manubriata Young, E. curveola Oman, and E. cristata Torres. Several specimens were found to be parasitoidized by Hymenoptera of the family Dryinidae, subfamily Aphelopinae belonging to the genus Aphelopus Dalman.
