Las “malas” salidas y Franz Kafka: reflexiones del joven Siegfried Kracauer (1926-1933) en torno a la vida bajo el capitalismo monopólico

Abstract

El propósito de este trabajo es explorar una serie de textos escritos por el joven Siegfried Kracauer entre 1926 y 1933 a fin de dar cuenta de su posicionamiento frente a la crisis del presente, marcada por el desmoronamiento del viejo orden burgués tras la finalización de la Gran Guerra en 1918 y el auge del capitalismo monopólico. Así, por un lado, se discute su rechazo de las nociones de Bildung y de comunidad en cuanto construcciones ideológicas que ya no pueden ofrecer una salida auténtica al desgarramiento epocal; y, por otro, se describe la alternativa irónico-realista que propone Kracauer, a partir de la que es posible entender la razón de su interés novedosamente profano por la obra literaria de un autor como Franz Kafka, con quien comparte el gesto de la mirada extrañada respecto del mundo de las alienaciones burguesas.

The purpose of this paper is to explore a series of texts written by the young Siegfried Kracauer between 1926 and 1933 in order to give an account of his position regarding the crisis of the present, marked by the collapse of the old bourgeois order after the end of the Great War in 1918 and the rise of monopoly capitalism. Thus, on the one hand, we discuss his rejection of the notions of Bildung and community as ideological constructions that can no longer offer an authentic way out of the epochal upheaval; and, on the other, we describe the ironic-realist alternative proposed by Kracauer, from which it is possible to understand the reason for his original profane interest in the literary work of an author like Franz Kafka, with whom he shares the gesture of the estranged gaze regarding the world of bourgeois alienations.
