In this article we propose to provide an analysis of the Malvinas issue, postulating that the United Kingdom has promoted over time a situation of isolation of the islands in relation to the mainland as a strategy for the preservation of the colony. It will analyse how the dynamic of articulation between the islands and the mainland was artificially impeded by the colonial administration, although there were times when a fluid exchange flourished, which was cut short by the war. Since then, the United Kingdom reinforced a situation of artificial isolation as part of its strategy to sustain the islands as a British Overseas Territory.
