Los arroyos como atractivos turísticos: el caso de La Tapera en Mar del Plata

Abstract

El partido de General Pueyrredon está atravesado por 15 cuencas de drenaje que culminan en el Océano Atlántico. El desarrollo urbano y turístico de la ciudad de Mar del Plata, destino de sol y playa masivo de Argentina, fue acompañado por el entubamiento de gran parte de sus arroyos. La presente investigación analiza la valorización del arroyo La Tapera, como espacio de prácticas turísticas y recreativas, a lo largo del crecimiento turístico de Mar del Plata. La metodología es cualitativa e involucra una periodización basada en el rol turístico del arroyo desde la fundación de la ciudad hasta la actualidad. De este análisis se desprende que hubo un proceso de construcción de atractividad en torno al recurso playa, dejando a los arroyos, ajenos e incluso problemáticos, frente al desarrollo turístico. En la actualidad, se observan acciones encaminadas a la revalorización turística de Parque Camet, con un crecimiento de usos relacionados a la recreación. En virtud de que La Tapera es el único de Mar del Plata que aún permanece libre en su recorrido, es posible pensar en acciones que promuevan la recreación y el turismo de modo de potenciar modalidades turísticas alternativas al turismo de sol y playa.

The Partido de General Pueyrredon is crossed by 15 drainage basins that culminate in the Atlantic Ocean. The urban and tourist development of the city of Mar del Plata, a massive sun and beach destination in Argentina, was accompanied by the piping of a large part of its streams. The present investigation analyzes the valorization of the La Tapera stream, as a space for tourist and recreational practices, throughout the tourist growth of Mar del Plata. The methodology is qualitative and involves a periodization based on the tourist role of the stream from the founding of the city to the present. From this analysis it can be deduced that there was a process of construction of attractiveness around the beach resource, leaving the streams, foreign and even problematic, in front of the tourist development. At present, there are actions aimed at the tourist revaluation of Parque Camet, with a growth of uses related to recreation. Given that La Tapera is the only one in Mar del Plata that is still free on its route, it is possible to think of actions that promote recreation and tourism in order to promote alternative tourist modalities to sun and beach tourism.
