Gestión de cuencas: análisis comparativo en función de la calidad del agua superficial y usos del suelo de dos pequeñas cuencas urbanas

Abstract

La calidad del agua superficial está condicionada por un variado conjunto de procesos naturales y actividades humanas que interaccionan entre sí; por lo tanto, se verá afectada por los usos efectivos del territorio en la cuenca y por el uso que se haga de dicho recurso. El diagnóstico de calidad del agua superficial es una herramienta significativa en la planificación del territorio y el establecimiento de medidas estructurales y no estructurales para minimizar la degradación ambiental de una cuenca y mejorar la calidad de vida de su población. Este trabajo analiza las cuencas de los Arroyos Conchitas-Plátanos y Baldovinos, partidos de Florencio Varela y Berazategui, Provincia de Buenos Aires, y tiene como objetivos conocer el grado de afectación de la calidad del agua superficial en función de los usos del suelo, analizar comparativamente las mismas a partir de los resultados y proporcionar información útil para facilitar una correcta gestión/planificación de los usos del suelo en cada cuenca. Metodología: análisis multitemporal de intervenciones mediante interpretación de imágenes aéreas y satelitales; relevamiento de campo para identificación de ocupación efectiva del territorio y determinación de estaciones de muestreo; mediciones in situ, muestreos y análisis físico-químicos y microbiológicos de agua y sedimento.

The quality of surface water is conditioned by a varied group of natural processes and human activities that interact between each other; therefore, it will be affected by the effective use of the basin territory and by the use of such resource. The diagnosis of the quality of surface water is a significant tool to the territory planning and the setting of structural and non-structural measures to minimize the environmental degradation of a basin and to improve the quality of life of its population. This work analizes the basins of the Conchitas-Plátanos and Baldovinos streams, in the districts of Florencio Varela and Berazategui, Province of Buenos Aires. The aim of this work is to know the degree of affectation of the quality of surface water according to the use of the soil, to analyze them comparatively on the basis of the results, and to provide useful information to facilitate a correct management/planning of the use of the soil in each basin. Methodology: multitemporal analysis of interventions by means of interpreting air and satellite images; field survey for effective territory occupation and determination of sampling stations; in-situ measurements, samplings and physical-chemical and microbiological analysis of water and sediment. Some values exemplifying results of routine parameters, hydrocarbons, pesticides and heavy metals are submitted. Baldovinos stream: Overflow of nitrites (0.386 mg/l), ammonium (2.11 mg/l) and BOD (2.11 mg/l) downstream from the sewage. Conchitas- Plátanos stream: Maximum peaks in urban-industrial areas (ammonium 30 mg/l; BOD 127 mg/l; zinc in water 0.22 mg/l and sediments 629 μg/g). Marked vinculation between the use of the soil and the quality of the surface in both basins are observed. The results coincide with their morphological and hydrologic characteristics. A severe control of the sewage will substantially improve the quality of water of both streams and the quality of life of the population.
