The paper deals with the introduction in Africa of the neotropical parasitoid Epidinocarsis lopezi (De Santis, 1964) against the cassava mealybug, Phenacoccus manihoti (Matile-Ferrero, 1977). By December 1985, it was established in 13 African countries with mealybug-infested cassava, which were succesfully colonized by E. lopezi.
