Perspectivas para los cultivos transgénicos en la actual integración latinoamericana y caribeña

Abstract

La apertura hacia los agro negocios basados en cultivos genéticamente modificados y la trama de la actual crisis alimentaria y ambiental desafían a los países de América Latina y a los que intervienen en procesos de integración a implementar y co-construir políticas públicas a medida de sus pueblos. Atento a ello, el trabajo presenta un panorama de la crisis, su alcance y sus relaciones, las incertidumbres para la salud y el medio ambiente; el poder económico concentrado en el mercado de los cultivos; y el rol de los nuevos movimientos sociales. Luego, se analiza la institucionalidad del MERCOSUR y el CAS, junto a las perspectivas en el ALBA-TCP a partir de su nueva dimensión social. Con una mirada descriptiva-interpretativa se buscará visibilizar distintas piezas de una cuestión compleja a nivel global, regional y nacional, que invita a preguntarse: el para quién, el para qué y el hacia dónde del conocimiento y el desarrollo.

The opening toward the agrobusiness based on genetically modified crops and the frame of the current food crisis and environmental challenge to the countries of Latin American, and to those who are involved in processes of integration, to implement and co-construct public policies tailored to their people. According to this, the work presents a panorama of the crisis, its scope and his relations, the uncertainties for the health and the environment; the economic power concentrated in the market of the cultures; and the role of the new social movements. Finally, an analysis of the institutional framework of the MERCOSUR and the CAS is made, along with the prospects in the ALBA-TCP from its new social dimension. Under a descriptive-interpretative look, different parts of a complex issue into global, regional and national level will be revealed, inviting us to wonder: to whom, to what and to where knowledge and development is going.
