Aspectos esenciales sobre la seguridad de los antimicrobianos en el embarazo y la lactancia

Abstract

Teniendo en cuenta la gravedad del daño que pueden ocasionar los antimicrobianos en el embarazo y la posible repercusión sobre el feto y el neonato se exponen las consideraciones maternas, placentarias y fetales a tener en cuenta durante la exposición a este tipo de medicamentos durante este período. Se explican las formas en las que los antimicrobianos pueden influir en el desarrollo del feto. Se expone en tablas resúmenes las categorías clasificatorias de la Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) para cada tipo de antimicrobiano, la posible administración de estos fármacos en el embarazo y la lactancia y se explican detalladamente los efectos perjudiciales que pueden ocasionar durante esta etapa.

Taking into account both the critical damage that antimicrobial can cause in pregnant women and the possible consequences on the fetus and the neonate, the fetal, placental and maternal considerations that should be taken into consideration during the exposure of the mother to antimicrobial therapy during pregnancy are presented. The ways in which antimicrobials can influence upon the development of the fetus are also explained. The summary of the classification categories of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) for each type of antimicrobial drug and the possible administration of these drugs during pregnancy and lactation are presented in tables. The side effects of these medications during pregnancy and lactation are also explained in detail.
