Las representaciones mentales como herramienta para la interpretación musical y sus características desde la práctica instrumental: un estudio en el marco de la ciencia cognitiva

Abstract

Existe una dificultad inherente para obtener información de los procesos mentales que subyacen a la implementación de acciones para resolver tareas complejas. Tal es el caso de las representaciones mentales que guían la ejecución instrumental de la música. A lo largo del tiempo, a través de diferentes tipos de investigaciones se han ofrecido diferentes definiciones de dichas representaciones o imágenes mentales. El objetivo de este trabajo es, por medio de entrevistas de elicitación, obtener información acerca de cómo los músicos expertos implementan representaciones o imágenes mentales en su práctica instrumental y, con base en las diferentes definiciones que se encuentran en la literatura especializada, proponer un modelo descriptivo de estos procesos cognitivos.

There is an inherent difficulty in obtaining information about the mental processes that underlie the implementation of actions to solve complex tasks. Such is the case of the mental representations that guide the instrumental performance of music. Over time, different definitions of such representations or mental images have been offered through different types of research. The objective of this work is, by means of elicitation interviews, to obtain information about how expert musicians implement representations or mental images in their instrumental practice and, based on the different definitions found in the specialized literature, to propose a descriptive model of these cognitive processes.
