La "yerba del pollo" (Aüermnthera pungens H.B.K., Amaranthaceae) es ampliamente usada en medicina popular. En el extracto de éter de petróleo se ha detectado la presencia de Ácido oleanólico. Mediante otra técnica extractiva se ha aislado un heterósido saponhico cuya genina es el Ácido oleanólico, en tanto que el glicón está compuesto por los azúcares glucosa y ramnosa.

Alternanthera pungens (Amaranthaceae) commonly known as "yerba del pollo", is widely used as a folk medicine. Oleanolic acid was isolated from the petroleum light extract. By using an additional extractive technique, a saponinic heteroside was also isolated, whose genine was the oleanolic acid and glucose and rhamnose its glycosidic moiety.
