Uso racional de energía y conservación de bosques en la Patagonia andina

Abstract

Se estudian las condiciones de uso de la energía en la región cordillerana patagónica. Se presentan resultados preliminares de una encuesta en viviendas unifamiliares de la ciudad de Bariloche. Se observa que los cerramientos son inadecuados para el clima regional, con aislaciones ineficientes, infiltraciones y vidrios simples. Para gas natural, se obtiene alto consumo energético relativo a la prestación. Fuera de la red de gas se utiliza la leña, ya sea como complemento del gas envasado o como combustible principal. Por unidad de energía, el precio del gas envasado es de 8 a 12 veces mayor al de red. La fuerte presencia de turismo en zona de montaña genera también una necesidad adicional que presiona sobre el consumo de leña. Se proponen aquí algunas estrategias para mejorar el uso de los recursos energéticos, con énfasis en la problemática particular de la región.

The conditions of energy use in the Patagonian Andean region are studied. A survey among households in the city of Bariloche are presented. It is found that the construction techniques are not suitable for the region’s climate. Isolation techniques are inefficient, infiltrations are common and windows are built usually with single thin glass. For households provided with natural gas, high consumptions related to end-use energy are found. Very different is the situation for those not connected to the natural gas network. For the same amount of energy, bottled gas prices in the region are 8 to 12 times higher than the corresponding to natural gas. Large areas in the mountain range covered by this study are out of the natural gas network. In addition, strong presence of tourism and associated services create specific needs which are partially met by firewood. By focusing on natural gas as the only solution, the future energy sustainability of the region is in danger. Strategies to increase the diversity of resources with emphasis on regional needs, are proposed.
