Aquiles em Ifigênia em Áulis de Eurípides

Abstract

The present article is an introductory study of the Achilles' figure in Euripides' Iphigenia in Aulis, based on the analysis of his role in the play. At the end of the Fifth Century in Athens, Achilles is not anymore the brave hero found in Iliad. On the contrary, in this special tragedy in which Euripides constructs characters completely impregnated of philosophical values, as to say so, the Achilles on stage is a figure framed with an heroic aura, through the allusions of his mythical origins, taken from the Homeric world, but through his actions in scene, he shows himself much more reflexive than impulsive, contradicting the tradition of his name and actions.

El presente artículo es un estudio introductorio de la figura de Aquiles en Ifigenia en Aulis de Eurípides, basado en el análisis de su papel en esa pieza. En el final del siglo V en Atenas, Aquiles no es más el héroe valiente encontrado en la Ilíada. Al contrario, en esta tragedia especial en la cual Eurípides construye personajes completamente impregnados de valores filosóficos, por así decir, Aquiles en la escena es una figura moldeada con un aura heroica, por las alusiones a sus orígenes, tomadas del mundo homérico; pero por sus acciones en escena, se muestra mucho más reflexivo que impulsivo, contrariando en verdad la tradición de su nombre y acciones.
