Serological relationship by means of precipitin tests between a number of populations of Bufo arenarum from Argentina, seems to point out the remarkable taxogenetic homogeneity of this neotropical toad. Percentages ranging 91 %-100 % are the rule in any homo-heterologous cross-reactions, and clinal trends can be easily demonstrated for the antigenie relationships, in agreement with the geographical variation and the ecological barriers. The Argentine populations cannot be separated from the arenarum toads collected in their “ terra typica” (Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil). The evident difficulties for a real subspecific division of the arenarum populational complex are well emphasized.
