Jóvenes entre el centro y la periferia de la ciudad, del Estado y de la academia

Abstract

En este escrito se analizan someramente tres campos de producción de lo social desde la perspectiva de la dinámica centro-periferia. Estas categorías tienen cierto potencial creativo para pensar las relaciones de producción del espacio social, pero, además de la ayuda para espacializar relaciones entre diferentes potenciales de poder, estas nociones nos habilitan para estudiar el punto de vista del actor o la visión de mundo. Se trata de conocer quién o quiénes deciden nombrar y logran colocar algo como centro y otra cosa como periferia. Ofrezco como respuesta simplificada anticipada que es desde el lugar donde está posicionado el sujeto, desde donde ve y nombra el mundo. Con esta hipótesis buscaremos pistas para entender el juego de la producción social de: 1) la juventud urbana; 2) las políticas públicas y sociales, que “tocan” a los jóvenes, y finalmente; 3) la producción científica sobre juventudes.

In this paper three fields of social production are briefly analyzed from the perspective of the center-periphery dynamic. These categories have some creative potential to help us ponder on the relations of production of the social space, but, besides the support they provide to the spatialization of relations among different power potentials, these notions enable us to study the point of view of the actor or his/her view of the world. It is about knowing who decide to name, and manage to put something as the center and something else as the periphery. I advance an early and simplified answer: it is from the place where the subject is positioned, the place from where he/she sees and names the world. With this hypothesis we will look for clues to understand the game of social production of: 1) the urban youth, 2) how public and social policies “touch” young people, and finally, 3) the scientific production on youth.
